• Never cover your bird with a cage cover, if you must cover your bird, be sure to leave the top of the cage open and only wrap the sides of the cage. Cage covers will trap moisture and put your bird's health at risk.

• We recommend the use of a very dim night light rather than cage covering. Avian night lights are available on our products page  

• The Avian AquaClean system has internal charcoal filter pads which are designed to absorb odor for up to one month. Additional charcoal filter pads in the filter drawer may be added as well.

• The most important element of the Avian AquaClean is you and your birds' health. The water is designed to handle waste products dropped by your caged or perching bird. The water gently removes bird waste, which is commonly known as a hotbed of bacteria from beneath your bird 24 hours a day, and prevents the bacteria and allergens from going airborne. When using the system, you will learn how long your charcoal filter pad will absorb odors from your Avian AquaClean. The size of your bird, how many hours he is over the system, his diet, seed vs. pellet, the amount of fruits and vegetables, along with the shredding, chewing material you provide your bird are all going to affect the amount of additive or the frequency of charcoal filter pad changes. We have designed a complete water change to be quite simple and convenient. These are some of the variables you will adapt to when using the Avian AquaClean.

• Your bird is not in the water. You exchange the water periodically, frequency depends on water and filter maintenance. Naturally, you must clean the unit when the water flow slows due to bacterial build up.
